Statue of Peace unveils by PM Narendra Modi through Video Conferencing

Prime Minister of India, shri Narendra Modi unveiled the ‘Statue of Peace’ to mark the 151st Jayanti celebrations of Jainacharya Shree Vijay Vallabh Surishwer Ji Maharaj through online mode.

  • The Status of Peace located at Rajasthan’s Pali.
  • This is 151-inch tall statue that is being situated at Vijay Vallabh Sadhana Kendra, Jetpura, in Pali, Rajasthan.

Union Labour Ministry declares Draft Rules under Code on Social Security 2020

The Union Ministry has notified the draft rules under Code on Social Security. The rules provide for Aadhaar-based registration. The workers have to register themselves in labour ministry portal to get the benefits of social security schemes.

  • This have been linked to the EPFO, National Social Security Board, ESIC, platform workers and gig workers outlined in Code on Social Security.

Central Government to incentivize 500 private academies under Khelo India Scheme

The Union Minister for Sports Affairs, shri Kiren Rijiju announced that the Central Government is to give incentive for 500 private academies under Khelo India scheme.

  • Under this incentive scheme, Private academies shall be graded into different categories based on quality and achievement of players trained by the academy.
  • Khelo India Programme is a national yojana/scheme for the development of sports in India. It was launched in the year 2018

Keetham lake in Uttar Pradesh , Lonar Lake in Maharashtra added to ‘Ramsar site’

The Keetham lake, also known as Sur Sarovar, in Agra of Uttar Pradesh and The Lonar Lake in Buldhana district of Maharashtra has been added to Ramsar site.

A Ramsar Site is a wetland site designated to be of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. The name Ramsar comes from Ramsar City of Iran, where this treaty was signed.

RCEP: World’s biggest trade pact formed by Asia-Pacific countries

On the sidelines of 37th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), 15 Asia Pacific countries havs signed world’s biggest free trade deal that is led by China.

  • The deal excludes the US, which withdrew from a rival Asia-Pacific trade pact 3 years ago.
  • This free trade agreement which covers 2.2 billion people and 30% of the world’s economic output.

World’s first Tram library launched in India

As part of Children’s Day celebration, World’s First Tram library is launched in Kolkata, West Bengal for children.

  • The tram would run on Shyambazar-Esplanade and Esplanade-Gariahat routes, spanning across North and South Kolkata
  • This library was jointly developed by the West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) and Apeejay Anand Children’s Library.

Delhi Government launched a new mobile app named Jeevan Seva App. The app was launched by Health Minister of Delhi, Satyendar Jain.

  • The main aim for launching this app is to ensure the safety and timely transportation of Corona patients to the healthcare facilities and hospitals.
  • This app has been launched in collaboration with the EVERA Cab services.

Phase 2 of Exercise Malabar Exercise 2020 to begin in Arabian Sea

The Second phase of Malabar Exercise will be conducted from 17 to 20 November 2020 in Arabian Sea. Earlier The first phase of this exercise was held on Bay of Bengal from 03 to 06 November 2020.

  • Vikramaditya Carrier Battle Group of the Indian Navy and Nimitz Carrier Strike Group of the US Navy will participate in the exercise
  • Exercise Malabar is a trilateral naval exercise involving the United States, Japan and India as permanent partners.
  • The exercise originally begun in 1992 as a bilateral exercise between India and the United States, Japan became a permanent partner in 2015.

Former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings has passed away. He served as the First President of the Republic of Ghana.

National Epilepsy Day is observed on 17 November

November 17 is observed every year as National Epilepsy Day to create awareness about epilepsy.  Epilepsy is a chronic disorder of brain characterized by recurrent ‘seizures’ or ‘fits’.

  • According to WHO, about 50 million people have epilepsy across the world, out of which 80 percent people are living in developing countries.
